Boomer Baumeister

Boomer is a professional mariner who has worked on a variety of ships.  His passion for conservation was born aboard experiential education vessels which he led for several years all over the world.  After many years of crossing oceans with students Boomer became the captain of the State of Florida’s flagship research vessel Weatherbird II.  As the captain of the Weatherbird II, Boomer has led over a hundred missions dealing in biological, physical, geological, and chemical oceanography.  Under Boomer’s command the Weatherbird II has facilitated the science leading to many publications and documentary films.

Chantale Bégin

Chantale holds a PhD in Biology from Simon Fraser University and her research focuses on marine conservation and management, from the sub-Arctic to the tropics.  She has played an active role in experiential education for over a decade, first teaching marine biology and oceanography aboard school ships, then facilitating the integration of research into experiential education curricula.  Additionally, she has worked with governments and marine protected areas, in particular in the Caribbean, to improve coastal zone management.

Chris Ergen

​
Chris works in international business development for Dish Network. He has extensive experience in satellite communications, mobile connectivity, and pay television around the globe. He is an advocate for consistent and inclusive connectivity.  Chris is an active supporter of the arts and has collaborated on projects ranging from placing art on spacecraft to producing festivals. He is also an angel investor and an innovation advisor to startups.
